Abstract:
A compound of Formula I ##STR00001## wherein X.sup.1 to X.sup.8 are independently selected from C or N, and Y is selected from the group consisting of NR.sup.2, O, S, Se, CR.sup.3R.sup.4, SiR.sup.3R.sup.4, and GeR.sup.3R.sup.4. R.sup.A and R.sup.B represent mono to the maximum allowable substitution, or no substitution. The compounds of Formula I will also have at least one of R.sup.A, R.sup.B, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, or R.sup.4 that comprises a structure selected from the group consisting of formula A, formula B, and formula C as described herein. In n the structures of formula A, formula B, or formula C, Z is selected from the group consisting of NR.sup.5, O, S, Se, CR.sup.6R.sup.7, SiR.sup.6R.sup.7, and GeR.sup.6R.sup.7; wherein R.sup.5 is a substituent selected from the group consisting of deuterium, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, and combinations thereof; or optionally, R.sup.5 is an aromatic linker that connects the structure of formula A to Formula I, or the structure of formula C to Formula I. In formulae A, B, and C, X.sup.9 to X.sup.41 are independently selected from C or N; where in formula B, at least one of X.sup.17 to X.sup.33 is N; and in formula C, at least one of X.sup.34 to X.sup.41 is N. The substituents R.sup.C, R.sup.H, R.sup.E, R.sup.F, R.sup.G, R.sup.H, R.sup.I, and R.sup.J represent mono to the maximum allowable substitution, or no substitution.
