Abstract:

A method of treating or inhibiting degeneration of a retina of a subject in need thereof comprising administering an effective amount of a compound of metipranolol, or a metabolite thereof, to an organ, a tissue, or the subject, wherein the degeneration of the retina is caused by an ocular disease. In some embodiments, the compound, or a metabolite thereof, is administered topically, orally, or parenterally. In some embodiments, a drug delivery vehicle comprising a dosage of the compound, or the metabolite of, is delivered parenterally via intravitreal injection. In further embodiments, the dosage may range from 0.5 .mu.g/day-15 .mu.g/day.
