Abstract:

A fining apparatus for producing glass articles, methods of manufacturing a fining apparatus and methods of manufacturing glass articles in a fining apparatus are disclosed. The expansion characteristics of a fining vessel (205) comprising platinum and a cradle (201) comprising zirconia are selected to prevent rupture of the fining vessel upon cooling of the fining apparatus.
