The present invention relates to new picolinic acid derivatives of formula (I) and their use as intermediates in the process of making pyridine derivatives, including (S)-3-amino-6-methoxy-N-(3,3,3-trifluoro-2-hydroxy-2-methylpropyl)-5-(tri- fluoromethyl)picolinamide that are useful for the treatment of respiratory disorders. ##STR00001##
