DELTA IMAGE UPDATE

Abstract:

In some aspects, the present disclosure provides a method for performing a software update. The method includes receiving, by a device, a delta image, the delta image comprising a metadata segment and one or more delta segments, wherein the one or more delta segments correspond to an update to one or more segments of a plurality of segments of a first image of a first software stored on a first memory partition, the metadata segment comprising: (i) for each of the one or more delta segments, an indication of a physical resource location in the first memory partition for storing the corresponding delta segment, and (ii) for each of the plurality of segments other than the one or more segments, an indication of a physical resource location in the first memory partition where the corresponding segment is stored.
