Abstract:

An active material for an electrode and its methods of manufacture are provided. The active material includes a lithium-nickel-copper complex oxide (LNCO) represented by the formula Li.sub.2Ni.sub.xCu.sub.1-xO.sub.2, wherein x is greater than 0 and less than 1.
