SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR DIAMETER BASED INTERFACES TO ENABLE RESTRICTIONS OF COVERAGE ENGANCEMENT IN WIRELESS NETWORKS

Abstract:

Diameter based interfaces are configured to enable restriction of a coverage enhancement feature or mode. A service capability exposure function (SCEF) communicates through a Diameter based interface (e.g., S6t interface) with an HSS to control whether a user equipment (UE) is restricted from operation in an enhanced coverage mode. The SCEF may process an enhanced coverage request. In response, the SCEF generates a configuration information request (CIR) for a home subscriber server (HSS). The CIR may include an AVP to query enhanced coverage restrictions for the UE. The SCEF may also process a configuration information answer (CIA) from the HSS. The CIA may include an enhanced-coverage-restriction-data AVP indicating current settings of the enhanced coverage restrictions for the UE.
