Abstract:

While operating a wearable audio output device in a first mode, a computer system receives an input corresponding to a request to transition the wearable audio output device from the first mode to a noise-cancellation mode in which audio outputs that are provided via the wearable audio output device include cancellation audio components selected so as to at least partially cancel ambient sound from the physical environment. In response, if a first and second wearable audio output components of the wearable audio output device are both in-ear, the computer system transitions the wearable audio output device from the first mode to the noise-cancellation mode; and if either or both of the first and second wearable audio output components is not in-ear, the computer system forgoes transitioning the wearable audio output device from the first mode to the noise-cancellation mode.
